You Should Know About Shopping For A Bridal Gown
Know what you can afford and shop within your limits.
It makes the choice too difficult if you try on gowns
that are priced far beyond your means. Know what you plan
to spend and look at gowns within that price range.
Don't shop when you're tired.
This is a hard decision, and it only gets harder if you
leave it to the end of a working day. Get an early start
when you are fresh and enthusiastic.
Decide how you will wear your hair - this impacts on
type of sleeve and neckline.
Fussy, 'big' hair and big sleeves and veil will kill each
other. Be aware of the total look.
Know whether your skin type is best with white or ivory.
Are you a summer/winter skin type (which needs white)
or a spring/autumn type (which needs ivory)?
Don't shop with a group. Shop with just one other person.
A committee is always a disaster. Rely on your own
judgment
and the taste of one other person whom you trust.
Don't be persuaded by a friend to choose a gown you
don't truly love.
If you're shopping with your mother or a best friend,
you will be interested in their opinion. But the final
decision must be yours and yours alone.
Don't shop on your lunch hour. You need time to make
the right choice.
Don't decide to do a little shopping every lunch hour
for a week. You will be too distracted and rushed to make
adequate decisions.
Have some idea of what you want: long, short, slim-line
or bouffant.
Nobody knows your figure like you do. Don't be talked
into a style that doesn't complement your figure type
or one in which you won't feel comfortable. Stick with
what works for your figure type.
Wear shoes the height you'll be wearing at the wedding.
The gown likely will be made to order and length is important.
Ensure that appropriate length by taking with you a pair
of shoes with the same heel height as your wedding slippers.
Understand your own figure type.
You know your figure flaws or the parts of your body about
which you may be sensitive. Be aware of these flaws when
you choose the various styles to try on.
